Amenge

Collection of prints designed in collaboration with Romani kids in Slovakia aims to present Romani culture outside of the common ethnic stereotypes. By presenting talent and creativity of the Romani youth, project tries to fight racism, built positive image of the contemporary Romani culture as well as aid in its integration. Project drew inspiration from a participatory visual research focusing on aesthetic preference of selected participants. It further employed creative workshops to produce artworks that were combined in a collection of versatile textile prints. Project was supported by a non-profit consulting and training organisation ETP Slovakia and implemented with the financial support of the Fund for the Support of the Culture of National Minorities. Project Amenge received a main award in a category Society & The Environment in the National Slovak Design Award 2021.
