Architextures

The collection of woven textiles has taken its inspiration from the present and the past of Slovakian architecture. Being part of a soviet union for 60 years had significantly shaped the face of many Post-communistic countries. Nowadays the only remains of the past are the monuments and the omnipresent modernistic architecture. However bad are the connotations with the past regime, many architectonical buildings remain to be a representation of good modernistic architecture. Inspired by the beauty of construction, minimalism, rhythm, and material, designer Zuzana Zmateková decided to translate those elements into a woven structure taking into consideration not only the pattern but also the bindings and yarn choice, in order to create a visually pleasing and accurate representation of the spirit of the modernistic constructivist architecture in Slovakia.  This project has been supported using public funds provided by Slovak Arts Council 2019
